The anchorage is at the southern end of the channel between Moska or Mosko Adası and Alibey Adası. It is good shelter from the southerlies.

It’s located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Edremit (part of Aegean Sea), across from the eastern coast of Greek island of Lesvos, opposite its capital (Mytilene).
