The port of Marciana Marina is protected by an outer breakwater in tetrapods artificial rocks and a breakwater. The jetty is equipped with pontoons for mooring boats.
Marciana Marina is a few miles west of Portoferraio. It’s an attractive town with colourful squares and old lanes, and its numerous shops and restaurants make it lively and picturesque. Its pebble beaches have all the necessary facilities for those venturing onto terra firma. There are tiny shops selling locally made foods, arts and crafts and clothing along the promenade and in the old town. The promenade also offers a lovely walk that leads from Cotone (the old natural harbour) to the Torre Saracena, built in the 12th century by the Pisan people as a defence against pirates. Fans of trekking will find plenty of routes to explore the surrounding area: the various paths that set off from Marciana Marina lead through the woods to the peak of Monte Capanne (1019 metres), which offers panoramic views of the whole island and Tuscan archipelago. From April to October a cable car offers a less strenuous ride up Monte Capanne.
Marciana Marina Harbour
The harbour at Marciana Marina is sheltered from the northerly winds thanks to a long, artificial breakwater. The harbour contains two private marinas: on the breakwater side, il Porto di Marciana Marina and on the town side, several floating docks managed by the Circolo della vela yacht club. Both will respond to VHF channel 09. Boats can drop anchor in the bay and reach the town by tender.

Marciana Marina port is located on Elba island, on the Tuscany region of Italy. It’s a small marina with 115 berths for boats of 30 meters length and 8 draft. This port has basic facilities to meet the needs of boaters such as water, electricity and gas station. It also allows its clients to take their boats from water as it has the necessary services like a 15 tons crane. It also has ramp access for those who travel with light boats on trailer This marina offers complementary nautical activities to practice different sea-related sports such as sailing, boating, fishing and diving.
Marciana Marina is situated on the NW coast of Elba, some eight miles west of Portoferraio. It is a useful point at which to break a passage from Bastia in Corsica to Portoferraio. The harbour is protected by a long breakwater, along which there are yacht berths. The breakwater encloses a large T-pontoon with more berths. The town is a good base for exploring the mountainous interior of the island or for ascending on the cable car to Monte Capanne. Shelter is good in the harbour in the prevailing winds. However, strong winds with anything east in them cause an unpleasant swell. The harbour would probably become untenable in very strong easterlies.
No hazards in the approach. The breakwater can be difficult to see on the approach from west, but the prominent tower at its root is a good landmark. Depths in the harbour range from 2.0 – 8.0 metres; along the breakwater from 4.0 – 8.0 metres.
