It is the most favorable beach of Antalya, at 15 km west of Antalya city center, located inside the pine forests. It is an ideal place for the divers who want to make amateur diving. Siçan (Reşad) Island is opposite to the beach. There are also beautiful bays and beaches following Topçam Beaches such as Small Çalticak, Big Çalticak, Beldibi, Kiziltepe Mocamp Facilities, Kemer Bay, Phaselis, and Çırali Beaches.
Sıçan (Reşad) Island
Just opposite to the Topçam beach, there is a little island which is also known with the names ‘Olive’, ‘Silent’, and ‘Reşad’. In some old geography books and maps, the name of this island is written as ‘Reşad Island’ of Konyaalti Beach. According to some resources, this island was used as a base for the Arabic navy for a period of time, in the time of Sultan Harunnürreşid, therefore, it was called as Reşad Island. However, the villagers called the island as Sıçan (rat) Island due to the appearance of the island from the land (its shape resembled a rat shape).
This small island laying 1 km offshore of Topçam Beach also attracts the attentionof divers. While the bottom of shore facing Topçam Beach is sandy and shallow, the other shore’s bottom is quite steep androcky. That shore is attractive to divers who relish the opportunity to explore the mysterious underwater world of the Mediterranean Sea. There is a small cave in the east side of the island. Wind occasionally causes quite strong waveaction at Sıçan Island, and it is quite popular for daily boat trips. Consequently, there is busy boat traffic around the island.
Its west coast overlooking the beach is shallow. The floor is usually covered with fine sand. The most interesting part of the island is the northeast coast. The bottom reaches a depth of up to 22 metres and offers pleasant scenery. At the same time, a small cave to the east creates a nice surprise for divers. Though the wind blowing from the west doesn’t create any waves, it may cause strong surface currents depending on its severity. Precautions have to be taken for this reason.
Fish Restaurants are very famous with their fishes, cooking and services. Fishes available due to seasons.
